?SE HABLA DINERO?™ TIPS

"¿Se Habla Dinero?,……should be compulsory reading for every high school and community college student in America. Why? Because I believe, as a retired Business News Editor at The San Francisco Chronicle and former instructor at three large colleges, that had this book been placed on school desks and kitchen tables a quarter century ago our nation would likely be in the midst of an educated economic boom rather than meandering in an overextended, credit-bloated financial fizzle.”

THIS MONTH’S TOP THREE MONEY TIPS FROM
¿SE HABLA DINERO? THE EVERYDAY GUIDE TO FINANCIAL SUCCESS

1. Don’t spend more than you earn.

Use the budget on this site and in the back of the book, ¿Se Habla Dinero? to figure out whether you need to spend less and earn more.

Think of budgeting as a game. You win if you keep more of the money you earn than you give to others. A budget is also a stress buster. When you know you have more money than days till the end of the month, you can relax.

2. Before you spend, wait and think.

If you spend without thinking, chances are you’ll buy something you want, but don’t need. So count to three and ask yourself: Do I need this? Do I need it now? If I buy it, will I feel good about it in a week?

3. Instead of spending on yourself, invest in yourself.

Spending money on fast food, video games, gambling, or the latest fingernail design simply puts wings on your dollars. It does not improve your looks, your education, or your ability to provide for your financial future.

But if you spend money to educate yourself, to put a roof over your head, or to make a wise purchase, you are investing in yourself and you will be more financially secure and independent.
